Kickstarter Spoof Wants Funding for T-Shirts, Beer [VIDEO]

Yahoo has released a hilarious video that pokes of crowd-funding platform Kickstarter, featuring a guy named Nick asking the public to help find his life.

The video — called “Nickstarter” — spoofs the popular crowd-funding platform that allows inventors, artists and entrepreneurs to fund their concepts, products and events by raising millions of dollars from general donations.

“Hey, I’m Nick. I need money for my life. I want you to give me money,” Nick said in the clip. “Life is funny, life is challenging… life is a project that needs funding.”

On the list of things he wants includes new t-shirts, beer and chicken tenders. In exchange for donations, Nick will say hello to you on the street, add you on Facebook and “Follow Friday” you on Twitter (#FF).

“When I was a kid, my life was fully funded — room and board, indoor plumbing. I still need those things, but they aren’t free anymore,” Nick said. “That’s where you come in.”

What’s your take on Kickstarter? Do you think backers should expect something back from helping fund projects or are these funders getting the short end of the stick? Let us know in the comments.

Funded: $1,934

This project uses a box and an old monitor to simulate virtual reality. It is an incredibly cool project, but its Kickstarter backers shouldn't expect anything in return other than a "big happy thank you."
